‘Eye for Detail’ Artwork

Tuesday, 24 September 2013

This year at the 23rd Monaco yacht Show Silverlining reveals a new stunning marquetry artwork called ‘Eye for Detail.’

The artwork references peacock feathers, re-interpreted using 9 colours of sycamore veneer, 5 types of 23 carat gold leaf and white mother of pearl. It is part of Silverlining’s New Thinking, New Making exhibition at Monaco showcasing materials and techniques to stimulate the imagination of owners and designers when considering artworks and furniture for their super yachts and houses.

The touch lock handle made from polished buffalo horn and Sterling silver springs out of a hand textured coach hide leather panel.

The design is part of Silverlining’s manifesto to make each element of our work beautiful and a joy to use (in this case a door catch).

Micro Marquetry

Part of our ‘New Thinking, New Making’ series to be launched at the 2013 Monaco Yacht Show

The table edge sample is made from mirror polished sycamore, Macassar ebony and cocobolo marquetry with hand chased silver gilt inlays.

The diminishing pattern allows flex in the veneers so they flow over the curved edge.

The table edge sample is made from mirror polished amboyna and Macassar ebony with a hand chased silver gilt floral patterned border

Chasing is rare skill of micro carving a pattern in the silver and then infilling with 23 carat gold.

Part of our ‘New Thinking, New Making’ series to be launched at the 2013 Monaco Yacht Show

Inspired by digital drawing techniques, electric blue fractures appear out of the Azure blue rhomboid marquetry background.

The skill is in the ‘chemistry’ of achieving the pantone colours and cutting the thin fracture lines.

The sample demonstrates our innovative Super light construction techniques for planes and sailing yachts.

The sculptural sycamore ’Flying Saucer’ is covered in a juxtaposition of natural textured and smooth polished charcoal shagreen leather

Modern Deco

Friday, 20 September 2013

Part of our ‘New Thinking, New Making’ series to be launched at the 2013 Monaco Yacht Show

The table edge is made from highly polished ice white ‘bubble’ maple which contrasts with tactile aqua-marine shagreen leather.

The skill is in the ‘chemistry’ of removing the natural maple tone and tailoring the leather around the four tier waterfall edge.
