Bringing together traditional hand-cut wood marquetry and sand shading with a three-dimensional mother-of-pearl centre detail created using modern laser and machining technologies.
The painstaking heat shading and wood grain selection creates a trompe-l’oeil effect, tricking the eye into thinking the fossils are three dimensional and lifting them from the background.
