The ‘Big Bang’ effect is simulated using rhomboid-shaped fragments of differentially blue-dyed quilted maple, rippled sycamore and myrtle wood veneer and moon-gold-leaf shards, which appear to float in a clear ‘window’ of soya bean bio-resin surrounded by an Almond-gold ring.
This sample’s design was inspired by an in-house project investigating how to create decorative finishes from small offcuts of wood veneer and other ‘leftover’ materials.
Materials: Almond-gold plate, coach-hide leather and lacquer.
