Inspired by honeycomb-weathered lava-formed rocks called tafoni, this sample features an intricate marquetry pattern of English rippled sycamore veneer (custom dyed in varying shades of red) that transitions into a honeycomb-shaped metallised resin mesh inlaid with red lacquer.
The seamless mirror-polished finishes of the three different materials used in this sample were achieved using the exacting skills of wood dyeing, micro-marquetry, metallised inlaying and lacquer finishing.
