CONSOLE DESK
Designed for a second-generation client the console takes inspiration from the refined minimalism of the Modernist Art Deco, French designer, Jean-Michel Frank.
The minimalist wych elm wood features mitred outer surfaces supporting 'pillowed' panels of 'eau de nil' green shagreen leather in a grid pattern. Carved textures on the wood mimic tracks left in sand.
The word Shagreen derives from the French word ‘chagrin’, which translates as ‘annoyance’ a reference to the texture. The leather was extensively used in the 1930's for decorative surfaces.
