A hand-drawn artwork is first etched into end-grain oak using precision laser burning, leaving behind a beautifully textured pattern. Metallised resin is then carefully worked into the etched design, adding depth and a subtle reflective quality. Finally, Mother of Pearl is inlaid into the pattern, bringing a natural iridescence that contrasts beautifully with the oak’s rich grain. The result is a striking blend of craftsmanship, technology, and timeless materials.
This process is ideal for creating decorative centres in tabletops or unique surface embellishments. The concept shown here is inspired by the delicate flight of butterflies, but the techniques themselves are highly versatile.
