The top surface is formed from a tessellating, flowing marquetry pattern in English ash, combining crown-cut and straight wood grain to enhance the sense of movement across the composition
Carving or subtracting through the surface, the marks reveal contrasting colour and texture while introducing physical depth. The carving is most pronounced along one edge, gradually reducing in depth towards the centre until it disappears. It is an exploration of controlled carved marks, organic wood grain structure and a fluid marbled blue resin layer, combined as a single evolving surface.
Materials: Gall ink English oak marquetry with a layer of blue marbled resin beneath and lime wax finish.
