Digital Marquetry - Blue
Inlay lines sweep in from the edges, tapering gracefully to nothing—an example of remarkably delicate marquetry, made possible through precision laser-cutting technology.
The blue ripple sycamore is through-dyed, allowing the assembled marquetry to be sanded flush before the finish is applied. A seemingly simple pattern is elevated by the use of ripple sycamore and the alternating grain direction, its rhythm continuing seamlessly down the sides of the piece.
The blue marquetry is used for the sofa side tables and the pattern is scaled up and interpreted in leather on the sofa backs.
Materials: Electric and Azure blue English rippled sycamore.
Finish: Super satin lacquer.
