Layers of blue ripple sycamore marquetry are concealed beneath an English oak surface and exposed through a series of overlapping circular forms.
As the surface is worked to varying depths, shifting tones of blue are gradually revealed, creating depth, movement and variation across the composition.
The repeated circles create a rhythmic echo across the surface, with each form intersecting and responding to the next. The contrast between the restrained oak face and the colour beneath explores ideas of concealment and discovery, revealing what exists beyond the outer layer
