Multiple marquetry layers of subtly dyed veneers are pierced using CNC technology to create a pattern inspired by the various shapes and sizes of the suckers found on the arms.

When studying pattern, Silverlining stumbled across the amazing eight-armed molluscs known as octopods. On further investigation, they learnt that these molluscs have a natural ability to change the colour and pattern of their skin depending on their surroundings, to hide from predators.

When viewed from afar, it appears to be one harmonious pattern but view it up close and you’ll see it is, in fact, composed of an array of beautifully layered ‘eyes.’
