AUTUMN DRIFT GAMES TABLE

Autumn Drift draws on two distinct traditions, the seasonal colour of British woodland and the precise hand craft of gunstock chequering, resolving them into a single, richly layered surface here imagined as a games table.

The marquetry is composed of veneers native to the British Isles: walnut, oak, ash and lacewood, arranged to form autumnal leaf forms. The natural grain and tonal variation of each species contribute depth and movement.

Set against the leaf marquetry, hand-chequered panels introduce a discipline drawn from traditional gunsmithing. Fine intersecting lines are cut by hand into the timber to form a precise diamond pattern, a technique historically developed to combine grip with visual refinement, and one that demands exceptional control and consistency.

Here imagined as a games table, the concept demonstrates how Studio SL translates material research into form, moving from sketch to fully resolved design through a process of close observation, iterative drawing and deep knowledge of craft.

Walnut, oak, ash and lacewood veneers, solid walnut, polished champagne-gold-plated brass.
